Sacred Valley Health is a non-profit community organization founded in 2012 to improve access to healthcare in remote areas of Peru’s Sacred Valley. Through our Community Health Worker Program, we empower local women, known as health promoters, by providing them with education, professional development, and economic opportunities. These women become healthcare leaders in their communities, addressing critical issues such as pneumonia, malnutrition, and maternal health deficiencies.
Many indigenous communities in the Andes Mountains lack access to basic healthcare, leading to preventable health problems. Our approach reduces these gaps by working on equal footing with local communities, ensuring culturally relevant and sustainable health solutions. With a customized curriculum, developed in collaboration with Quechua-speaking staff, we focus on preventative care and long-term impact, ensuring that health education and resources are maintained even after we are no longer present.

Empowering Communities Through Health Education
Community-Centered Approach
We use Community Partnered Participatory Research methods, working hand in hand with our indigenous partner communities to ensure a grassroots, community-driven approach.
Education as Empowerment
Our unique curriculum, designed specifically for Quechua-speaking indigenous health workers, is evidence-based and culturally grounded.
Long-Term Impact
Focusing on health education and preventative care empowers individuals and communities to make sustainable changes for long-term solutions.
Sacred Valley Health believes health is a right, not a privilege. Our network-based strategy places Quechua-speaking women at the heart of health systems in Peru’s most underserved regions. We use community-centered, culturally respectful methodologies that allow women to become the bridge between traditional wisdom and modern care—because sustainability begins when solutions are led by those who live the realities.
