At Sacred Valley Health, we believe that education is the foundation for sustainable healthcare improvements. Our community health worker program trains and empowers local women, known as promotoras, to become leaders in their communities, providing essential medical knowledge and preventative care.
We work hand-in-hand with indigenous communities, ensuring that healthcare solutions are culturally relevant and sustainable.

Sacred Valley Health is a community-based non-profit founded in 2012 to improve healthcare access in remote areas of Peru’s Sacred Valley. Through our Community Health Worker Program, we empower local women, known as promotoras de salud, by providing them with education, professional development, and economic opportunities. These women become healthcare leaders in their communities, addressing critical issues such as pneumonia, malnutrition, and maternal health gaps.
Many indigenous communities in the Andean mountains lack access to basic healthcare, leading to preventable health problems. Our approach bridges these gaps by working in equal partnership with local communities, ensuring culturally relevant and sustainable health solutions. With a custom curriculum developed alongside Quechua-speaking staff, we focus on preventative care and long-term impact, ensuring that healthcare education and resources remain even when we are no longer present.
